Blood-Brain Barrier Transport in Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease Virtual Workshop

Starts:  Apr 24, 2024 11:00 AM (ET)
Ends:  Apr 25, 2024 05:10 PM (ET)

The NIA Division of Neuroscience in collaboration with NHLBI and NINDS will be hosting a virtual workshop titled Blood-Brain Barrier Transport in Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease which will take place April 24th and April 25th, 11 am to 5:10 pm ET. The purpose of this two-day workshop will be to bring together experts in the field to discuss the following research topics:

  • Transport mechanisms in the BBB and how they are altered in aging and Alzheimer’s disease
  • Tools and models that enable the study of whether and how transport occurs across the BBB (in vitro, in vivo, and in silico)
  • Strategies for enabling drugs to cross the BBB, and their preclinical and clinical applications, including how BBB changes in aging and Alzheimer’s disease may impact drug transport strategies
  • The BBB as both an obstacle and target for drug development
  • Gaps and opportunities within the field of BBB transport in aging and Alzheimer’s disease
