A “middle market” of older Americans –unable to afford private-pay senior housing and care, but with too many resources to qualify for Medicaid – is rapidly expanding and facing escalating health and housing needs as they age. Please join us on Wednesday, April 24, at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC, for a Health Affairs Forum where we will unveil new qualitative research on this topic and launch a robust policy conversation around meeting future long-term care and housing needs for middle-income seniors.
In their Health Affairs paper to be released on April 24, “The Forgotten Middle: Many Future Middle-Income Seniors Will Have Insufficient Resources for Seniors Housing and Care,” authors Caroline Pearson of NORC at the University of Chicago and David Grabowski of Harvard University shine a spotlight on the future health and housing needs of America’s middle-market seniors.
Also on April 24, Health Affairs will release two related “Perspectives”: “Facilitating Societal Adaptation to Aging,” by John Rowe of the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University; and “What Can Be Done to Better Support Aging in Community?,” by Christopher Herbert and Jennifer Molinsky of Harvard University.
Please join these authors, as well as a panel of policy experts, for a discussion of these critical issues:
