AARP Community Challenge Grant Application Deadline

When:  Nov 1, 2017

AARP works in hundreds of places across the country in partnership with mayors and other local leaders to prepare for and better serve our rapidly aging population. Our goal, shared by many of our partners, is to help make communities better places to live for people of all ages.  Our Livable Communities portfolio has expanded rapidly in the past few years: AARP staff and volunteers in all 50 States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the District of Columbia are working in roughly 280 communities.  This includes 173 communities across more than three dozen states, representing more than 65 million people, that have enrolled in the AARP Network of Age Friendly Communities. As we continue to support the efforts of communities on the ground, we are expanding the range of resources we have to offer, including technical assistance, webinars, peer cohorts, toolkits, and others.

To build on this support, AARP has launched a nationwide pilot—The AARP Community Challenge—to award grants to organizations committed to improving their communities. These grants are structured on the idea that “quick actions” can be a critical spark to longer-term progress. AARP are hoping to fund projects structured as “actions to demonstrate community change” and help build momentum across the country to improve the places we live.

We are currently soliciting applications for project funding. Applications must be submitted by July 15, 2017 through AARP.org/CommunityChallenge. All projects must be completed by November 1, 2017.
